Charlene’s Journey to Wellness

My interest in psychology started at an early age. I wanted to learn about the cause of mental illness since it was affecting my family. I learned that it wasn’t okay to talk about what was going on at home. I just pretended like everything was okay.

This “false self” I presented to the world continued through my corporate career. I was a manager at a major company, but I felt like an imposter. I wanted direction and meaning in life.

I decided to become a yoga teacher and through teaching and practice, I became aware of how much time I spent stuck in my head. I would ruminate over past mistakes and feel anxious about how others perceived me.

At 50 years old, I had an opportunity to change my life direction and decided to go back to school full-time to become a psychotherapist. Through my own personal therapy work, I became aware that a part of me was constantly criticizing my beliefs, actions, and emotions. With therapy, my “inner critic” began to quiet down, and I became happier with life.

As an experienced, independent Registered Psychotherapist, I am passionate about helping and supporting others. I’m always grateful to my clients since they remind me of why I made this career choice. I may not be able to “fix” everything, but I will listen to your concerns with non-judgmental compassion and support you as best I can.

You are at the start of a tremendous journey! Therapy can be hard work no matter what age, sex, race, etc. you are. But, if you keep with it and start taking steps to help yourself, you will begin to feel better and find the direction in life you seek.

What to Expect?

As a Registered Psychotherapist, my goal is to support you with whatever difficulties you might be facing in your life, each time you come to a therapy session. My approach is compassionate and non-judgmental and is aimed to individuals aged 18 and over. Therapy is conducted over a secure, online platform.

Built Trust & Safety

As we begin therapy together, we’ll be getting to know one another to build trust and safety. You are in the driver’s seat and I’m a passenger with a map to help guide the journey!

At our first session, we’ll review your history and reasons for coming to therapy. Together, we’ll set some goals and priority areas you want to work on. At the beginning of therapy, it’s most effective to start seeing each other on a weekly basis. As you start to feel better, we can move the sessions further apart.

Goal Setting

Session Expectations

Sessions aren’t generally planned out to allow space for topics to arise freely. Together, we will explore what is getting in-between you and feeling okay. Between sessions, I may suggest activities for you that support your goals

Along the journey, you will learn new skills such as mindfulness so you can notice your thoughts, feelings, and reactions. You may learn skills to improve communication and relationships. Skills for better managing stress can also be helpful. We’ll practice creating space so you can choose how you’d like to react to what’s happening in your life. From time to time, I will check on how you feel you’re progressing and whether you want to adjust your goals.

Why the Name Bloomosity?

A flower that blooms to its full beauty has received the care it needs. The conditions of the soil, temperature, sun, and rain, contribute to this care.

As humans, we can also bloom to our full potential when we have the care we need. It begins with loving ourselves and extends to others, and to our world.

To bloom means that your heart is ready to open. You want to experience more light, love, and connection than you ever thought possible.

And you deserve this. Therapy is a means of providing self-care. With self-care, you can bloom to your potential and live a life of fulfilment and purpose.
