My Approach
Virtual Psychotherapy for Adults across Ontario
Therapy that helps you understand yourself, not judge yourself.
You may already know what you should do. The harder part is understanding why certain thoughts, feelings or patterns keep showing up even when you want things to be different.
My approach is collaborative and curious. Together, we make sense of what’s happening beneath the surface so you can respond with greater awareness, compassion and choice.
There’s usually a reason for the patterns we develop.
Overthinking. Putting others first. Being hard on yourself. Trying to keep everything under control.
These patterns often developed because, at some point, they helped.
Rather than asking “What’s wrong with me?”, we become curious about:
“What has this pattern been trying to do for me — and do I still need it in the same way?”
We look at the whole person.
Your experiences don’t happen in isolation. Relationships, family, work, culture, expectations and earlier experiences can all influence how you see yourself and respond to the world.
Therapy gives us space to understand those connections without reducing you to a diagnosis or a set of symptoms.
What our work might look like…we might explore:
patterns in your thoughts, emotions and relationships
how past experiences influence the present
different parts of yourself that seem to pull you in different directions
your values and what matters to you now
new ways of responding to difficult thoughts and emotions
greater self-compassion and awareness
My approach is integrative.
My work draws from person-centred, psychodynamic, parts-based, acceptance and values-based, mindfulness, and feminist approaches. Rather than following one formula, I draw from these perspectives based on who you are and what we are working on together.
You remain the expert on you.
I bring training, experience, curiosity and another perspective. You bring your lived experience. I’ll ask questions, share observations and sometimes gently challenge you, but therapy isn’t something I do to you. It’s something we do together.
The goal isn’t to become a different person. It’s to understand yourself more deeply and have more choice in how you want to live.
You don’t have to figure everything out on your own.
If you’re ready to understand yourself differently and explore what might change, I’d be happy to talk with you.
